Estefania de Ros
Born in Guatemala, 1990.
She holds an M.F.A. in Furniture Design from the Rhode Island School of Design.
Artist and designer whose practice bridges art, design, and craft. Working across furniture, art, sculpture, and installation, de Ros approaches objects as carriers of meaning, memory, and emotion. Her work explores symbolism and material transformation, weaving together personal narrative and cultural heritage. Each piece operates at the intersection of the past and the present, where function becomes a vessel for storytelling and intention.
Her interdisciplinary practice moves fluidly between mediums, pushing the boundaries of furniture into sculptural and experiential territories.
Through close partnerships with local artisans in Guatemala, she develops pieces that honor traditional techniques while reinterpreting them through a conceptual lens. By merging the handmade she celebrates cultural continuity while expanding its relevance within a global contemporary context.
Her work has been presented at leading international art and design platforms, including Berlin Art Week, Triennale di Milano and Zona Maco, and has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, Wallpaper*, and Phaidon. Her practice continues to evolve as a distinctive voice where material research, symbolism, and cultural narratives converge.
For the past 10 years she has worked as the founder and creative director of Agnes Studio, where she led the studio’s creative vision. Her focus has shifted toward developing her independent artistic career, expanding her personal body of work and research-driven practice.
